GLAMOUR – Lily James, the 25-year-old star of the live-action film Cinderella, popped into GLAMOUR HQ to peruse the fashion cupboard and talk all things style.

Lily James on her favourite Cinderella premiere dress…
It’s very hard. It’s very hard for me to choose. I did love what I wore at the World premiere, the Elie Saab gown, just because it was SO princessy. I mean, I don’t know if I’d ever wear that out of context but on this tour it just felt, I mean, she makes the most beautiful gowns, and it just felt very magical.

Lily James on why she chose Balenciaga for the UK premiere…
Well, he made it for me custom-made, and when Alexander Wang says ‘I want to make you a dress’, you say ‘yes please!’. It was really exciting actually because they came around, so I sort of saw it develop and grow, and I loved it.

Lily James on how she chooses her red carpet dresses…
I have an amazing stylist, she’s called Rebecca Corbin Murray … I go around to her living room and it’s sort of exploding with dresses and we go through them all and she’s so good at picking things she knows I’ll like and we work together. She’s taught me absolutely everything, she’s brilliant.

Lily James on being recognised more…
I saw this cool interview with Amy Adams from when she did Enchanted and played a Princess, and when kids came up to her with no make-up and ripped jeans on, she said, ‘I’m off duty. I’m an off-duty Princess’, and I thought that was quite sweet. I might go with that, yeah.

Lily James on embracing the 70s-style suede trends…
I mean, maybe…
I do have a slight cowboy thing, my dad used to wear cowboy boots and these big leather jackets and this is making me feel quite cowboy, so maybe.

Lily James on her off-duty style…
Jeans, Converse, jumpers – usually my boyfriend’s. I live in dungarees, and I love denim – I wear denim shirts a lot. I’m a real hoarder. I’ve got strappy tops from Tammy that I had when I was seven and I somehow still find them useful.

Lily James on high-street shoes…
New Look are good for shoes aren’t they? There are so many and they’re really cheap and affordable.

Lily James on her fave high-street shops…
I’m all for the high-street shops. It’s more expensive but I love COS, and I love Whistles.
